Driven by a personal curiosity — whether there is any geographic skew in where foreign residents of Tokyo come from by region of origin — I obtained population data of foreign residents in Tokyo and visualized it on a map. Population numbers are reflected in both color intensity and area, so that regional skew is intuitively grasped and the familiar map appears pleasingly distorted.
